About the client

billiard.guru is our product for the billiards community: Russian pyramid, snooker, and pool. A club publishes a tournament, players register, the bracket builds itself and opens by link — on a phone or on a screen in the hall. Clubs catalog, player profiles, ratings, and a “Find a game” section. Login via Telegram; the site is in Russian and English. Product is in open beta.

01

The pain they came with

Tournaments lived in Excel and chats: brackets drawn on paper, ratings counted by hand, entries lost in Telegram groups. Spectators had nowhere to follow the bracket — only ask the referee.

  1. Brackets on paper and in Excel

Single-elim and double-elim for 16–64 people — seeding mistakes and manual recalculation after every match.

  2. Registration in chats

Entries get lost in Telegram groups; no single player profile, rating, or tournament history.

  3. Club without a cabinet

They need table bookings, staff, news, and club tournaments — not only a brochure site.

02

How we guided them

We built the service end to end: a public site for players and spectators, a club cabinet, and reference bracket layouts for 16, 32, and 64 players.

  1. 01

Public site: tournaments, clubs, players, coaches, “Find a game”, bracket demos

  2. 02

    Double-elimination layouts for 16 / 32 / 64 (+ 3rd–4th place match)

  3. 03

Player ratings, handicap calculator, tournament registration

  4. 04

Login and phone confirmation via a Telegram bot

  5. 05

Club cabinet: table bookings, staff, news

  6. 06

Russian and English UI, production deploy

In plain speak

Brief jargon — without the fog. How we explained each step to the client.

Specialist speak

Double-elimination bracket

How we explained it

A ready tournament layout: lose once and you drop to the losers’ side, not straight out. Variants for 16, 32, and 64 players.

Public bracket

How we explained it

The link opens without login — players and spectators see matches on a phone or on a club screen.

Specialist speak

Login via Telegram

How we explained it

Confirm the phone in the bot — and you’re in the cabinet, no separate password or extra forms.

Specialist speak

Find a game

How we explained it

A section to find a practice partner — not only an “official” tournament.

04

What we did, step by step

Each step is a concrete change. Meaning on the left, screen on the right.

01

Homepage

Community storefront: tournaments, clubs, players; pyramid, snooker, and pool. Product in open beta.

02

Tournament card

Rules, entry fee, prizes, discipline, and registration status — then the bracket and entrants list.

03

Bracket demos

Format catalog: single-elim and double-elim for 8–64 — open and preview without login.
